Top Resources for Travelers in Tok, Alaska

Stopping in Tok Alaska on your roadtrip is the perfect hub to restock, refresh, and refuel. Below you’ll find details on everything you’ll likely need after the long drive through Canada.

One of my favorite things about Tok Alaska is how walkable everything is. You can do your laundry, take a shower, get groceries, wash your vehicle, get dinner, get gas, and park your vehicle from one location. Everything is connected via a walking trail and within a mile or less.

Tok Alaska resources

Auto parts stores

If you need any type of emergency parts or tool, you’re in luck. Tok has a Nappa Auto Parts AND an Ace Hardware. There are also an RV repair placed called Alcan Legends, tied to the Nappa, if you need a larger repair. Tok Automotive Repair is another option – I would call to see if they can work on your RV or trailer.

Gas stations

There are at least 5 gas stations in Tok, Alaska. If you go to Chevron, there’s a car wash right around the corner that only costs 3 dollars. It has no walls so you can swing by to wash your RV or trailer after getting gas.

Groceries

The first real grocery store you’ll like encounter in Alaska is in Tok. The Three Bears Alaska had everything I’ve been wanting to get that I couldn’t find in Canada. It has great organic options for produce and dry goods. It also has a decent selection of tools and other RV supplies you might be needing to restock.

This is also right next to the Chevron. They even offer free parking for RVs around the corner! I stayed here for a night and it was unbelievably convenient.

Hiking

There are few hiking options directly in Tok Alaska. However you’re liking stopping here just to refresh. The Fire Break Trail is a nice way to stretch your legs and is just behind the town. It’s basically just a dirt road that is also frequented by 4×4’s and dirt bikes.

Laundry

Right next to Three Bears is a little motel that also has a laundry room called Raven’s Ridge Laundromat. Washers are $4.00 a load and the dryers are $0.25 for 3 minutes. You can throw in a load of laundry before shopping for groceries. And the Nappa is 2 buildings down from the laundry store!

Places to stay

If you’re in need of an RV park to plug in and recharge, there are 4 options all within a mile. Tundra RV Park, Tok RV Village, Alaska Stoves Campground, and Sourdough Campground.

Tok also has a few cabin and motel stays. Caribou Cabins, Fox n Fireweed Cabins, The Golden Bear Motel, Burnt Paw Hotel, and Young’s Motel to name a few.

There are also two Recreation Sites on the edges of town. Tok River State Recreation Site and Eagle Trail Recreation Site.

Showers

If you need a shower, the good news is that the Laundry room also has showers! I know right! Showers are $5 for 15 minutes – however I didn’t see a timer or anyone there to actually monitor this. They were clean, and the water was hot. Take a shower while your clothes are drying.

Restaurants

There’s a few different options all in walking distance from the Three Bears Grocery store. Since you can park your rig there for free, I used it as my central hub.

There’s a place called Fast Eddy’s that offers American foods, burgers, pizza and such. It also has a salad bar which is a nice perk! In the same complex is a place called Bears Den Lounge which is a bar that offers some typical bar food. They were playing live music when I stopped by – a little entertainment if you’re looking for it.

The Three Bears Outpost across the street has pizza and deli sandwiches if you’re looking for something quick and easy. Tok Alaska also has a Thai Restaurant, BBQ, and a Mexican restaurant. A little bit of everything!
